Pikeville Little Sprouts is a program that encourages youth to explore new and healthy foods while also having fun. At our Little Sprouts event, children have the opportunity to try a fruit and a vegetable that they may have never experienced before. They can participate in a craft event related to the featured produce, allowing them to engage in hands-on learning and creativity. After trying the new foods, children receive a recipe incorporating the fruit and/or vegetable they tasted, so they can continue to explore and enjoy these nutritious options at home. As a bonus, each child receives a $5 voucher to use at any vendor at the Farmer’s Market, allowing them to purchase even more fresh and delicious foods to enjoy with their families. Pikeville Little Sprouts provides a fun and educational experience that promotes healthy eating habits and supports local farmers and businesses. 🍅🥕🫑🫛
