Project Safe Return
Project Safe Return
Project Safe Return is an initiative aimed at providing vital support to Pikeville Police Officers and our community during search and rescue missions involving vulnerable individuals with cognitive and/or behavioral disorders. These individuals, who may be prone to wandering and getting lost, require specialized care and attention to ensure their safety and well-being.

About Project Safe Return
By compiling important details such as medical history, behavioral tendencies, preferred locations, multiple points of contact for family members or caregivers, and any known triggers or tactics that may help in locating and safely returning the individual, Project Safe Return equips first responders with valuable information that can expedite search and rescue efforts and provide responders with valuable information on how to communicate with individuals with cognitive and/or behavioral disorders.
This proactive approach of gathering and storing this data not only aids in quick response times but also helps prevent potential harm or extended search periods for vulnerable individuals. By working closely with caregivers, medical professionals, and communities, Project Safe Return aims to create a network of support that prioritizes the safety and well-being of those most at risk of becoming lost.
Through collaboration and communication, Project Safe Return seeks to bridge the gap between first responders and individuals with cognitive and behavioral disorders, providing a sense of security and reassurance for loved ones and caregivers. Ultimately, the goal is to create a more efficient and effective system for locating and returning at-risk individuals, ensuring their safe return home.
Through strategic partnerships with local agencies, advocacy groups, and healthcare providers, Project Safe Return endeavors to create a comprehensive support network that is dedicated to safeguarding the lives of those who are most vulnerable in our communities. By raising awareness, promoting education, and fostering collaboration among stakeholders, this initiative aims to establish a more inclusive and supportive environment for individuals with cognitive and/or behavioral disorders.
Ultimately, the overarching goal of Project Safe Return is to enhance the overall safety and well-being of at-risk individuals by providing first responders with the necessary tools, resources, and training to effectively respond to search and rescue operations involving individuals with cognitive and/or behavioral disorders. By working together towards a common purpose, we can ensure that no individual is left behind or overlooked in times of crisis.
