Pikeville Wastewater Department

Future Wastewater Treatment Plant

The new Pikeville Wastewater Treatment Plant will not only improve the efficiency of the City’s sewage treatment process, but will also be environmentally friendly by reducing the amount of sludge released.  This will have a positive impact on the local ecosystem and surrounding communities.  Additionally, the construction of the new facility will create job opportunities for residents in the area.

The City of Pikeville is committed to providing clean and safe water resources for its residents, and the funding received from the American Rescue Plan, administered by the Tennessee Department of Enviroment and Conservation, will help make this project a reality.  The new plant will cost between $7 and $8 million to complete.  By purchasing property upstream from the current plant, the City was able to save money on construction costs and avoid potential issues with expanding the current plant. By investing in infrastructure improvements, the City is investing in the health and well-being of its community for years to come.

The solicitation of bids for the project in early summer will kickstart the construction phase of the Wastewater Treatment Plant.  With a construction timeline of approximately 18-24 months, the new facility should be fully operational withing a reasonable timeframe.  The improved infrastructure will not only ensure that the City of Pikeville can effectively manage its sudge flow, but will also contribute to environmental sustainability in the region.

The funding and construction of the new Pikeville Wastewater Treatment Plant is a positive development for the city.  With the help of grant funds and strategic planning, the City of Pikeville is on track to complete a crucial infrastructure project that will benefit both residents and the environment for years to come.

As of January 1, 2023, the ground has been cleared.

Ground-breaking is scheduled in 2023 with a completion date of 2025.

The size of the facility/land is approximately 16 acres.
